Suicide prevention month.
Our Veterans come back different. They are not the same person you knew before they went out the door. Some of them still carry the ghosts. They try to be stable and still be a part of the family. Little noises set them off, some have flashbacks and hear the sound of the mortar rounds coming in and still can smell the smoke. If you have veterans in your community, please reach out to them and their families to see if they are alright or need assistance. As a young Marine leader, I was taught by a Vietnam veteran that what your troops say with their mouths isn't always what their eyes say.

Hispanic Heritage month:
Here are just a few of our great Americans who swore an oath to the Constitution of the United States to protect it against its enemies, and at times great risk to themselves.
Héctor P. García: A World War II veteran, surgeon, and founder of the American G.I. Forum, who received the Presidential Medal of Freedom for his civil rights advocacy.
Angela Salinas: Enlisted in the U.S. Marine Corps in 1974 and made history as the first Hispanic female to attain the rank of brigadier general in the Marine Corps.
Master Sergeant Raul Perez "Roy" Benavidez (August 5, 1935 – November 29, 1998) was a United States Army soldier who was awarded the Medal of Honor for his valorous actions in combat near Lộc Ninh, South Vietnam on May 2, 1968, while serving as a member of the United States Army Special Forces during the Vietnam War.
