March Climate Café

Please join the ECCC for our March Climate Café on March 20th at 12:00 pm ET/5:00 pm CET with guest Larry Moffet, who will explore how we can exert personal power in shaping financial systems and their environmental accountability.

Drill, baby, drill! Fossil fuel companies are reneging on their climate pledges, and banks are funding their increased oil and gas production. In 2023, the world’s 60 biggest banks provided $700 billion in lending and underwriting to the fossil fuel sector, and many have withdrawn from the UN's Net-Zero Banking Alliance (NZBA). It's time for citizens to hold their bank accountable for how it invests their savings. Several pressure campaigns are underway to encourage bank customers to close their accounts in banks that fund fossil fuel activities and switch to sustainable banks. Larry will present these campaigns, including the one he is planning to launch in Belgium.

Larry is an American living in Brussels, a longstanding member of Democrats Abroad Belgium, and since 2018, a climate activist member of the citizen movement Rise for Climate Belgium.
