Breakthrough '26! Evening Reception

Breakthrough '26! Evening Reception

*NOTE: In-Person Registration to the EMEA Retreat is Sold Out.*

Reception Tickets are available! Please RSVP before 12 noon Thursday Oct 8th.

A reception for all participants and other guests will be held on Saturday, October 11th at 18:30. This event is a benefit for Democrats Abroad, hosted by the EMEA Retreat Steering Committee.

Why this Benefit?

The EMEA Region generally hosts a fundraising event during the retreat weekend to support Get Out The Vote programming around the world. In the spirit of our theme - Breakthrough '26 - we are eager to break through to our voters in this critical moment in our nation's history and ensure the voice of overseas Americans is heard at the ballot box back at home.

Looking forward, 2026 will be a critical mid-term election year with a major impact on all overseas Americans and their extended families and networks in the United States.

There are also key state elections approaching in Virginia and New Jersey - and now a critical ballot referendum in California that will affect control of the US House Of Representatives with an impact on many of our members.

Early money and early action helps us be prepared to deliver the overseas vote for Democrats across the 50 states. Help us be part of that effort by participating in this Benefit Reception!

Event Details

The venue is Rooftop 58 in central Brussels gathering place with superb views from the rooftop.

Drinks and finger food will be available. There will be a separate communication about dinner options, including the possibility to remain at the venue for a meal following the reception.

Speaker

Our speaker for the night will be Amanda Klekowski von Koppenfels, Ph.D, a former International Executive Committee Officer, and Founder & CEO of KvK Pathways.

She has researched the migration, integration and political engagement of overseas Americans extensively, including her 2014 book "Migrants or Expatriates? Americans in Europe". Her most recent publications include "Democrats Abroad: What motivates core activists to engage in political transnationalism?" and "Imagined Exit as Voice: Americans' Emigration ASpirations under Obama and Trump".

I am excited to welcome her to talk with you at a time when immigration and identity are under attack back home, and the how Democrats Abroad can help bring American diaspora communities together to fight back.
