Europe, Middle East, & Africa (EMEA) Non-Country Committee (NCC) Candidate Information
The EMEA Region Non-Country Committee Voting Representative (EMEA NCC Voting Rep) will serve alongside approximately 250 other voting representatives from DA's country committees to discuss and vote on DA business – such as Resolutions, our Platform, and international leadership elections at global meetings.
The position of Non-Country Committee (NCC) Voting Representative (VR) was created through changes in the Democratic Party Committee Abroad (DPCA) Charter in 2021 to ensure that all members of Democrats Abroad have representation and a voice in our global organization. The role of NCC VR is an important development for the growth of Democrats Abroad and the enfranchisement of DA members who didn't previously have representation in the DPCA governing body.

What relevant experience do you have volunteering with Democrats Abroad and/or any other relevant voter mobilization/volunteer/activism efforts?

I first learned about Democrats Abroad during the Democratic National Convention last fall, and I was eager to join. Since relocating to Kuwait, I have been looking for opportunities to remain politically engaged and continue supporting the Democratic Party, especially given my previous involvement in local politics in Atlanta. After signing up in September, I have spent the past seven months collaborating with Keith Brannum to establish the Kuwait Committee. Additionally, I have worked closely with Democrats Abroad members in Saudi Arabia, Qatar, and Oman to help form the GCC Regional Committee. Our efforts have included developing strategic plans for each of our respective countries, as well as a comprehensive strategy for the region as a whole.

What do you see as unique about the situation and experiences of NCC DA members, and how would you address this?

The main challenge facing the NCC lies in the lack of coordination and the absence of dedicated infrastructure to foster engagement among members within specific countries or regions. This makes it difficult for members to stay informed, engaged, and connected with other DA members. In countries like Saudi Arabia and on a regional level, these challenges are further intensified by geographical barriers.
However, I see these obstacles not as setbacks but as a unique opportunity to redefine engagement at both the country and regional levels. By leveraging our virtual platforms, we can find ways to bridge gaps, foster integration, and enhance meaningful interaction, while at the same time build strong networks which is key to sustained growth.
One of the ways we tackled this challenge in the Kuwait Committee Strategic Plan, was by introducing the “Bring a Friend” campaign. This initiative was started to encourage each member to invite a friend to join the Committee, as a way to increase membership and engagement. After launching this for about a month, we were able to add three new members.
Additionally, we have a wealth of resources available through Democrats Abroad that can empower our members to engage more deeply. By utilizing platforms such as the website, social media, and our various caucuses and action groups, we can ensure that NCC members stay informed and active on key issues such as voting, legislation, and other matters that directly impact them.
While one of our long-term goals is to transition the NCC into Country Committees, we must also be focused on strengthening the connections and engagement within the NCCs themselves, so that they are empowered to participate and vote, no matter where they live.

When Barack Obama was elected as the 44th President of the United States, I was an academic at Georgia Tech, deeply focused on research and teaching. His historic victory and commitment to service ignited a passion in me to make a meaningful impact. Inspired by his leadership, I took a bold step in 2009 and ran for a city council seat. That campaign was one of the most challenging yet rewarding experiences of my life. It taught me the importance of listening to people, understanding their needs, and finding solutions that matter—whether addressing issues like pensions, inclusion, or city policies.
After my move to Kuwait for personal reasons, I continued to stay engaged in local and state politics. It was only after joining DA, in which I feel that I have found a platform that will allow me to continue to actively stay engaged and promote the values and priorities of the Democratic Party. I believe my past experience of running for office, along with my expertise in strategy and policy development has equipped me to contribute to the EMEA NCC and the broader Democrats Abroad leadership.
My vision is clear: to help mobilize our efforts, amplify the voices of Democrats abroad, and foster genuine engagement through connection, active listening, and providing a platform with resources that address voter needs and concerns. Specifically, I would focus on:
- Supporting the growth of NCCs (and potentially their eventual transition to CCs) by championing advocacy programs that deepen engagement in the country and/or region
- Drive voter participation in primaries, caucuses, and national elections from NCC members
- Work on fostering policies ranging from voting and reducing barriers to absentee voting and improving the voting process to issues related to taxes, immigration, foreign policy, healthcare, etc. to ensure that Democrats Abroad are well-represented.

Non-CC DA members have the numbers to win elections that count if we're coordinated. Their diversity and energy for positive progressive change which DA stands for, harnessing this should be a priority. |

Summarizing my ideas for 2 year term if offered, to further DA ideology is simply as follows; EDUCATING, INFORMATING, EQUIPPING, NETWORKING USA citizens in Nigeria with adequate facts and ensuring they know how and should get involved in exercising their voting rights.
The experience gathered while assisting DA Country leaders and as well DA Africa committee and that of the DA State Group (FB) has immensely contributed to my personal growth at not only disseminating voting information but also canvassing and strategically ensuring US citizens have the adequate information to get the vote and also stay up informed at their various locations.
Soliciting input won't be far fetched. As I fully understand my area and its challenges, I will ensure to go the length and breadth from malls, to University Campus, to All American voting for DA is my goal.

Hello fellow Democrats,
I am honored to stand as a candidate for Democrats Abroad, representing Americans living in Belarus. Three years ago, I made the decision to move here, and since then, I have been deeply committed to our community. As a lifelong Democrat with a unique perspective – having voted for Jimmy Carter and initially identifying as a Reagan Republican – I understand the importance of bridging divides and advocating for our shared values.
In these challenging times, I am dedicated to supporting fellow Americans in Belarus. I believe in the power of community and the need for strong representation within Democrats Abroad. My goal is to ensure that our voices are heard and our concerns addressed, whether it be on issues like taxation, healthcare, or voting rights. As your representative, I will work tirelessly to connect with our community, listen to your concerns, and amplify our collective voice within the Democratic Party. I am passionate about fostering a supportive environment for Americans abroad and advocating for policies that benefit us all.
I ask for your support in this election. Together, we can make a difference and ensure that our unique experiences and perspectives are represented within Democrats Abroad.
Thank you for considering my candidacy.
