On September 13th, Democrats Abroad will be visiting the Marienkirche (St. Mary’s Church) in Mitte to commemorate Martin Luther King Jr.’s sermon there 53 years ago.
We will meet in front of the church at 18:00 and talk some about MLK Jr.’s visit to Berlin, and pending confirmation, we will be able to go inside to view the church. We will then gather back out front and take turns reading from MLK Jr.’s sermon (http://www.aacvr-germany.org/index.php/images-7?id=94). After, we will go for dinner nearby and further discuss his themes of faith, reconciliation, and social justice and how those themes of 1964 pertain to the modern struggle occurring in the U.S.
