Communication Report

Shashanda

Shashanda reported on communication efforts for 2024. DACB transitioned to a public Facebook page for information and events in 2024. The focus on communication efforts now has been shifted to efforts we can take. She will be attempting to make close to daily posts on ways we can improve our wellness, as well as what individual actions we can do. She will continue to share information on the DA web page and in email blasts, as needed. There will be a lot happening in the upcoming year.

DACB will continue to be present on the Banderas News, Vallarta Mirror, Out and About in PV and the PVEverything.com directory.

6

GOTV Report

Clint

In 2024, 467 members in DACB used Vote From Abroad to request their ballots, while 153 sought help at voter events in Puerto Vallarta and an additional 20 in Bucerias. DACB volunteers assisted voter efforts on zoom, email and on the callhub phone line.

The voter return party helped 30 people send their ballots to the Embassy through DHL, sharing the $11 cost between them. Note that one of these ballots was rejected in Texas because the voter ID wasn’t on the ballot. Just a note to all of us that we need to be vigilant in checking our ballots and assisting each other. Voter suppression efforts will only be increasing for upcoming elections.

Upcoming Events

Shashanda

a.  2025 Elections - Clint                                                 In a Virginia state election earlier this year, a Democrat won. Another seat flipped to Democrat in Iowa (in a district that Trump won by +25 points). There will be elections on April 1 to replace US Representatives in Districts 6 and 1 in Florida, as well as a very important election in Wisconsin, where a Supreme Court majority is being voted on. Members will be contacted about other statewide elections later this year, including in Virginia, New Jersey and New York City.

b.     Socials - Shashanda                                                       We will continue to have member brunches on the first Tuesday of the month at 9 am at Langostino’s, with a summer break between July and September. Happy Hours (or evening socials) will continue on the second to last Thursday of the month in the late afternoon, with breaks from June to September.

c.     4th of July - Shashanda                                                 The July 4 event this year will be an all member social. More information to come out later on Facebook and in an email blast.

d.     North and South Outreach Socials - Shashanda           Last year there was a summer brunch in Nuevo that attracted 35 members. We plan on events in Nuevo and Mismaloya this summer. A member from the Mismaloya are (Nick DeLorenzo) has offered his location for this event. He lives in Boca de Tomatlan.

e.     Last year there were 23 voter assistance events in Puerto Vallarta, 11 in Bucerias and 2 in San Pancho.

f.      Future Resistance Events will be announced as ideas are developed.

12

Getting Involved

Clint

Clint asked if anyone has any ideas for Rejuvenation, Resistance or Restoration. Therese asked about specific things we can do for resistance. In response, Will again pointed out the importance of contacting legislators in Washington DC and at the state level. He urged everyone to install the 5call.org app on their phones and use it to make regular calls on different issues.

Nick DeLorenzo suggested a margarita/calling party.
