Da Zürich - Independence Day Protest & BBQ (Save the Date)
Join Democrats Abroad Zürich this Independence Day as we take to the streets and the grill to stand up for the values that truly make America great: freedom, equality, and human rights.
🗓 Saturday, July 5th, 2025
📍 11:30 AM – 1:00 PM: Protest at Züghusplatz, Zürich (meet in the square)
Travel with the Tram 8 Paradeplatz direction Hardturm, get off on Bäckeranlage.
📍 1:30 PM – BBQ Potluck & Social at Bäckeranlage Park in Zürich (every person bring a food and drink contribution)
NOTICE: It will be HOT, bring plenty of water, chairs if needed and umbrellas for shade.
This year, we mark Independence Day not just with celebration—but with resistance. As the Trump administration escalates its assault on civil liberties, democratic norms, and human rights, we are gathering to say: enough is enough.
Join fellow Americans and allies in a peaceful protest demanding accountability and justice, followed by a summer BBQ in the park where we can connect, recharge, and build community.
Demo Guidelines
The aim for the demo is to promote Democrats Abroad, increase membership and promote our economic, healthcare, individual rights and democratics principles. All signs should promote, or at least aim at promoting the following:
Americans abroad, Americans at heart – together for a stronger U.S. Democracy!
Economy:
DA Zürich believes in ensuring that U.S. Americans benefit from economic prosperity by ensuring fair access and a level playing field for all.
- Tax policy that does not penalize the poor and middle class and ensures that corporations and high-net-worth individuals pay their fair share.
Healthcare
DA Zürich believes that a healthy U.S. is a strong U.S.
- Affordable access to high-quality healthcare for all Americans akin to that which exists in other developed countries, including Switzerland.
Individual Protections
DA Zürich believes in protecting human and civil rights for citizens and residents of the U.S.
- No extrajudicial detention, sentencing, removals, respect for habeas corpus, upholding international agreements, reproductive justice, LGBTQ+ rights, gender and racial equality.
Democracy
DA Zürich believes in a fair and representative Democracy to protect the institutions, people and places that make America great.
- End to gerrymandering, stronger campaign financing laws, automatic voter registration, codified checks and balances of the judiciary, legislative and executive.
