Wienerwald Wine Walk and Tasting Fundraiser: A Vintner's Walk and Tasting in the Vienna Woods
With the 2026 midterms only weeks away, every vote from Americans abroad will make a difference. This event is a last-minute push to raise funds for Democrats Abroad Austria's voter registration efforts — helping make sure every eligible American citizen in Austria is registered, informed, and ready to vote. It will be a beautiful afternoon and evening in the Vienna hills for an important cause. Let’s build the blue wave, one glass at a time.
Join us on Sunday, October 11, for a golden-hour hike through the vineyard-covered hills above Grinzing, ending with a private tasting at the Buschenschank of one of Austria's most celebrated winemakers, Jutta Ambrositsch.
We meet at 2:30 p.m. at the Cobenzl bus stop — take the 38A from Heiligenstadt (U4) or from the Tram 37 terminus, and look for us by the bus shelter.
From there, we'll cross the street to take in the sweeping views over Vienna, the city spread out below us in the afternoon light. Then we descend through terraced vineyards, the vines heavy with the coming harvest. As we reach Grinzing's edge, the path leads us past centuries-old houses and into the neighborhood's charming, lively heart — before one last gentle climb up to our destination: Jutta Ambrositsch's Buschenschank in Residence, where we’ll arrive at 17:00
Jutta is one of Austria's finest winemakers, known for coaxing bright, vivid character out of Vienna's traditional varietals. Her bottles can be found on the shelves and wine lists of fine wine shops and restaurants across America — and tonight, they're ours.
Settled In this gemütlich spot above Vienna, we'll taste five of her signature wines, learning about the vineyards they come from, how they were made, and the stories — old and new — behind each variety. Fresh bread and homemade Austrian spreads are paired with the wines, and all are included in your ticket.
Afterwards, stay on for dinner — order from Jutta's wonderful homemade food and enjoy more of her wine at your own pace. This is no ordinary Heuriger — it's a true gourmet experience, and a night in the Vienna hills you won't forget.
