Get-Out-the-Vote Fun-raiser—Performance & Artist Talk – Lady Day

DA Austria is excited to once again be able to support both the local English-language theatre community and DA Global's 2022 get-out-the-vote efforts with our 2022 Theatre Fun-Raiser on September 21, 2022. 

The award winning Broadway and West End play – Lady Day – capturing one of Billie Holiday's last performances is back in Vienna due to popular demand! The donation price for DA members includes a ticket to the performance and some bubbly drinks and discussion with the cast and crew afterwards. 

As described on the Theatre Drachengasse website, "The time is 1959. The place is a seedy bar in Philadelphia. The audience is about to witness one of Billie Holiday’s last performances, given four months before her death. More than a dozen musical numbers are interlaced with salty, often humorous reminiscences to project a riveting portrait of the lady and her music." 

Williams embodies Billie Holiday on stage with extraordinary charisma and presence. The interaction with the grandiose jazz band Fagner Wesley Trio is also great. Absolutely worth seeing.
