DA UK’s August newsletter from their Chair, Kristin Wolfe –
This month, I want to talk about the elephant in the room — or should I say the elephant that needs to be kicked out of the room?! It’s the GOP elephant called Distraction. And it needs to take its no-Truth, anti-Social ringleader with it.
We have a mission to get Democrats elected up and down the ticket in 2024. That’s the White House, Congress, Governors’ offices, state legislatures, city mayors’ offices, local school boards, and more. Whether in Washington, DC, Atlanta, GA, Pittsburg, PA, Menasha, WI, Podunk, MI, and every other state, city, and small town in the nation, our democracy depends on it. Women and girls depend on it. Workers depend on it. Future generations depend on it.
This is our defining moment. Do not let things we can’t control interfere with the things we can. When we do, we are playing right into the GOP’s election strategy. Sow doubt. Create division. Distract us. That’s all they can do. Their party’s leader is a convicted felon. A man found liable for sexual assault. An incessant liar. A babbler on his best days; dangerous on every other. As if it couldn’t get any worse, the GOP has no platform and wildly unpopular ideas. They’re counting on that Elephant in our room.
If we want to win in 2024, let’s do our part. In 2020, voters abroad delivered over 18,000 votes in both Georgia and Arizona. Joe Biden won both states by just over 11,700 votes, handing him the White House. When it comes to the ballot box, our job is to make sure every American living in the U.K. is registered to vote and know how to get their ballot back in time to be counted.
