Betty Titus, as described here in her daughter's post on Facebook, was known by those luckily close to know her as 'Mama' Titus, widely loved and admired.
"My mother Betty Titus passed away yesterday at the age of 95. She was a proud Southern Democrat and cherished being called Mama Titus by so many of you. Smile when you think of her."
Democrats Abroad Greece never had the pleasure, although we were honored to meet Congresswoman Dina Titus (NV-01) a few summers ago, when she passed through Athens. Since then, the congresswoman has ably taken on the chair of the Americans Abroad Caucus in the US House. It is, perhaps, the central repository of concerns for all of us outside the borders.
Moreover, the congresswoman is on point for the issues that affect us and her in-state constituents, a polite but fearsome questioner of the sometimes thick-headed who come before committees she serves on.
We can't help but think the congresswoman gained her sharp wit, her respect for voters' concerns and her determination at her mother's knee.
