This mid-year report was sent out to DA Greece members and formed the basis of the Chair’s Corner of DAGR’s August newsletter.
Friends,
With less than 100 days left to the U.S. midterm elections in November, the bill is coming due. President Donald Trump and his lackeys face a day of reckoning after a year and-half of rampant corruption, abuse of power, assaults on the rule of law and on the international order.
Barely one in three Americans think he’s doing a good job, and almost two thirds don’t, while the rest of the world is increasingly ignoring the U.S. At this year’s midterms, the Democrats are favored to retake the House of Representatives and possibly even eke out a narrow majority in the Senate. If so, the balance of power in Washington will shift dramatically.
It will then be up to the Democrats to prove their mettle. Two issues will likely dominate the political landscape ahead: affordability and accountability. It will be the first step in what promises to be a multi-year effort at restoring the American Republic. But for that to happen, Democratic voters need to turn out in record numbers.
Voters will need to convincingly repudiate the dangerous and divisive policies of the Trump Administration. And, because everyone expects President Trump to meddle in the elections, it is vital that the results be overwhelming, broad-based, and decisive.
We at Democrats Abroad Greece have been working towards that goal. There’s a new energy among us, our membership is growing, our members are becoming more engaged. Since the start of the year, we have been focused on getting out the vote.
In numbers, for the past six months we have:
- Reached ≈70% of members via a phone banking campaign (ongoing)
- Distributed >500 Vote from Abroad cards
- Sent 4 targeted, bilingual Get out the vote (GOTV) emails
- Vote from Abroad support @ Athens Pride 2026
- 16 week Vote from Abroad campaign on DAGR social media (ongoing)

- Publish How to Vote from Greece article for Greek media (to come)
- New training manual, training sessions for GOTV volunteers (to come)
- x3 in-person Vote from Abroad registration drives @ American universities (Athens & Thessaloniki)(to come)
Because this year’s vote counts more than ever, we will soon be reaching out to volunteers to help us spread the word. And we are urging every member individually to become our ambassadors: tell every U.S. citizen you know – by word-of-mouth, through social media, through personal networks – that they can register through www.votefromabroad.org or www.fvap.gov.
This year – coinciding with the country’s 250th Anniversary – will be pivotal in American history. We need you, our members, to help. America needs your help.
