First DAGR Walking Tour

Learn about Your Host City from the Sidewalk on Up!

Some of us have lived here for years and still haven't had time or opportunity to explore all the knooks, crannies, and hidden treasures. For newer arrivals, it's a treasure trove to be collected and written home about.

But as the literature -- history books, archaeology courses, novels and tourist brochures -- will tell us, there is much to be explored.

Thessaloniki Chapter decided to fulfill curiosity, and finding a recommended guide, Giorgios, they set out on a learning walk-about.

Near Venizelou Metro Stop, which has a display of ancient artifacts discovered at and around the site.

Starting at the Metro.

On to the market.

And this crew wound up the excursion across from the Aghia Sophia Church.

This first walking tour was small but well received. Athens has expressed interest in one in the capital. And that's just the beginning.
