Athens democrats and friends will meet at En Aithria in Monastiraki on August 11, the second Tuesday of the month as usual, at 7:30 pm to avoid the heat.
August is Athens' best-kept secret. Lowest hotel rates, because tourists have all gone to some island. A lot of our resident friends have, too. So, the traffic is less dense, the air is drier, the heat less oppressive.
The conversation on Tuesday, however, may be heated. The DNC's summer meeting starts the next day in Austin. Will someone try to oust the Chair? (Pundits are salivating!) Or, will the party focus on making sure our races have the resources they need? And that the post office will deliver all the mail-in ballots, including ours? Meanwhile, the Iran tragicomedy plays on, spiking prices in the US and over here.
Well, let's drink and talk it all over. Bring a friend or six. The view of the Acropolis is amazing and there are many dining options all around.
