Thessaloniki Chapter Does May Day

Again this year, Democrats Abroad in Thessaloniki and Northern Greece participated in the First of May Labor Day Rally organized by multiple labor unions and associations.

Beginning in Aristotle Square with speeches at the statue of Eleftherios Venezelou, it was followed by the march through central Thessaloniki and the laying of wreaths of red carnations at the monument in memory of the Bloody May Massacre of tobacco workers in 1936. The monument was erected by the Workers' Center of Thessaloniki.

Fellow demonstrators and passersby took note of DAGR protest signs with thumb's ups and selfies and appreciation that Americans were part of the event.
