As part of Freedom Weeks, Democrats Abroad is honored to welcome Senator Tammy Baldwin for a Pride Month conversation on equality, representation, and the ongoing fight to protect American freedoms at home and abroad.
Senator Baldwin has devoted her life to public service with a clear and steady purpose: to improve the lives of Wisconsin’s working families. Guided by the state motto — Forward — she has championed fairness, equality, and economic opportunity throughout her career, always pushing our country toward a more inclusive and just future.
A historic trailblazer, Baldwin has broken barriers at every level of government:
the first openly lesbian woman elected to the Wisconsin State Assembly (1993),
the first openly lesbian woman and first woman elected to the U.S. House from Wisconsin (1998),
and the first openly LGBTQ person and first woman elected to the U.S. Senate from Wisconsin (2012).
Her progressive record on healthcare, reproductive rights, and LGBTQ equality reflects a deep commitment to expanding opportunity and protecting the dignity of every American. She continues to fight for policies that strengthen families, safeguard freedoms, and uphold democratic values.
During Pride Month — and within the broader context of Freedom Weeks — Senator Baldwin’s leadership stands as a powerful reminder of what representation makes possible and why the work of defending equality remains essential.
Join us for an inspiring, forward‑looking conversation about public service, progress, and the future we can build when we lead with pride.
