Leading with Pride: Senator Tammy Baldwin in Conversation

A historic trailblazer, Baldwin has broken barriers at every level of government:

• the first openly lesbian woman elected to the Wisconsin State Assembly (1993),
• the first openly lesbian woman and first woman elected to the U.S. House from Wisconsin (1998),
• and the first openly LGBTQ person and first woman elected to the U.S. Senate from Wisconsin (2012).

Her progressive record on healthcare, reproductive rights, and LGBTQ equality reflects a deep commitment to expanding opportunity and protecting the dignity of every American. She continues to fight for policies that strengthen families, safeguard freedoms, and uphold democratic values.
