(photo from the 2019 EMEA Regional Meeting in Athens)
Saturday, 24 April 2021, 3:00-6:00 AM EDT (check your local time HERE)
Newly-elected leaders are invited to attend a New Leader Orientation session, facilitated by the Asia Pacific and Europe, Middle East, and Africa regional teams. Current leaders and volunteers are also welcome to join as a refresher, as are those who are candidates for local office where elections have not yet taken place.
During this three-hour orientation, we will cover the following Democrats Abroad basics:
- Our purpose, our organizational structure, and how we conduct business (45 minutes)
- Our IT Team and key resources (30 minutes)
- Our Comms Team and how we share our messages (20 minutes)
- Our other teams and committees that support leaders and Country Committees (40 minutes)
- Upcoming and regular regional and global meetings (20 minutes)
There will also be a ten-minute break, along with Q&A opportunities.
Please RSVP for the WebEx link.
A second New Leader orientation session, covering the same topics, will also be held at an Americas/EMEA-friendly time on Saturday, 08 May between 12:00-3:00 PM EDT. To register for that session, please visit this event page to RSVP.WHENApril 24, 2021 at 3amWHEREWebEx

Kendra Borgen's 2021 Birthday Fundraiser
Having volunteered in politics since I was a teenager I have found a wonderful home within Democrats Abroad – an all volunteer organization.
We run on blood, sweat, tears, & donations!
During my time in Democrats Abroad leadership I’ve noticed how expensive it is to be involved. Going to regional and global meetings is fundamental in getting good work done and is important and instrumental in team building. However, it comes at each individual’s own expense.
I believe everyone should be able to volunteer at the highest level and want to help keep these meetings accessible to people, who may not be as financially flexible, by fundraising for Democrats Abroad Travel Fund.
I had hoped to spend my 40th Birthday in an exotic location but luckily I’m in Amsterdam and you can help me celebrate my 40th birthday virtually. Please help me reach my fundraising goal: $2021 in 2021
Got $40 for my 40th? – Or even $4, or $400 if you’re so inclined – hit that donate button.
I cannot wait until we can celebrate in person together again.
Thanks in advance!!!
Donations are made to Democrats Abroad (Democratic Party Committee Abroad) and not to any candidate for Federal Office.

Have you ever made a successful change in your life? Perhaps you wanted to exercise more, eat less, or change jobs? Think about the time and attention you dedicated to the process. A lot, right? Change is hard. Creating effective social justice habits, particularly those dealing with issues of power, privilege, supremacy, and leadership is like any lifestyle change. Setting our intentions and adjusting what we spend our time doing is essential. It’s all about building new habits. Sometimes the hardest part is just getting started. The good news is, there’s an abundance of resources just waiting to empower you to be a more effective player in the quest for equity and justice.
About the 21-Day Racial Equity Habit Building Challenge
- For 21 days, do one action to further your understanding of power, privilege, supremacy, oppression, and equity
- This plan includes suggestions for readings, podcasts, videos, observations, and ways to form and deepen community connections. Suggestions are in the following categories:
- Choose one activity per day to further your understanding of power, privilege, supremacy, oppression, and equity.
- Diversify your habits by doing some of each.
- Use the tracking chart provided here to stay on course. You can download the editable spreadsheet or a PDF for printing.
- We think understanding white privilege and white supremacy is a powerful lens into the complexities of doing social justice work, so we’ve focused our resources on that specific issue.
- Check-in with us on Saturday, February 20th, and Sunday, February 28th! We'll email you with the precise times and meeting information.
Global Pub Quiz Fun(draiser)
We're looking forward to meeting your team -- or matching you with other Democrats around the world.
For each round we'll send out a google form for you to fill in the answers. Volunteers will grade each round and the winning team(s) will receive never-ending fame and fortune.*
Ninety percent of the funds raised from this event will go directly to GOTV. Did you know that just $5 USD can reach 125 voters?
The other ten percent will go to DA's travel fund. As a young-ish volunteer without disposable income I can tell you the #1 issue with getting involved at a higher level of commitment is being unable to afford to travel to the regional and global meetings. It's important to show up in person as it helps build relationships we need to keep up the good work. We want to have a big tent party and that perhaps means helping our younger or income-sensitive volunteers to be part of the organization.
Date: Saturday May 30th | Where: RSVP for ZOOM link!
Quiz Start: 7:30pm (CEST / Paris time)
