Hamilton-Burlington-Niagara Chapter Chair / DPCA Voting Rep

I'm active with Democrats Abroad to make positive change in U.S. politics, which affects the entire world.  Dems Abroad is the best way for me to have an impact through the American electoral process.  Personally, I'm a retired rabbi originally from Baltimore.  I lived in Vancouver for 23 years until this fall when I moved to Hamilton, ON.  All three of my adult children live abroad, two in Tel Aviv, one in Montreal.

    American Thanksgiving Potluck Dinner

Come join us as we gather to share a potluck Thanksgiving dinner.

We'll meet and connect with other Americans and friends living in the Hamilton area.  We'll share thanks for the blessings in our lives -- including the positive changes in U.S. politics in the recent elections brought about through the hard work of many volunteers -- and to share hopes, concerns and commitments for the future.  We'll talk about how we're feeling in these times and what we hope to do in the coming year to make things better.

For details and to arrange what would be best to bring to the dinner, please RSVP below.  I will get back in touch with you very soon.

  • "Dems and Drinks" -- after the next debate, let's talk!

Still chewing over the issues we face as the Democratic candidates for 2020 gear up for the coming year of debates, caucuses and primaries?

No need to talk to yourself!

Come join Democrats Abroad for a lively exchange of ideas, concerns, opinions and observations two days AFTER the fifth televised debate.

The discussion will go beyond personalities, focusing on the critical issues that matter to us, whether they be climate change, health care (Medicare for all or a gradual buy-in, for example), gun control, voter demographics, immigration reform, women's rights. These are challenges we'll continue to grapple with long after we vote the GOP out in 2020.

Which of the candidates presents your best hope for not just victory but real change?

The next debate will be on Wednesday evening, November 20, in Atlanta, broadcast by MSNBC and the Washington Post.

We'll meet up two nights later at Pete & Kay Diner at 946 King Street West in the Westdale neighborhood of Hamilton on Friday, November 22, 7-9 pm.

Great food and drink -- including our famous Blue Wave cocktail -- will be available at Pete & Kay's upstairs room at cost.  We regret that this venue is not accessible for people who are unable to climb stairs.  Parking nearby.  Please RSVP.

    DEBATE WATCH -- JUNE 26 & 27

Everyone is invited to join Dems Abroad to watch and discuss the first debates among Democratic candidates for the Presidential nomination.  The top twenty candidates will present in the debates, with ten each night.  These first debates are widely expected to shape the field of candidates for the rest of campaign.

We'll gather at the George Hamilton restaurant at 152 King Street West at Bay Street in downtown Hamilton.   Doors open at 8:30 pm; the debates are scheduled to begin at 9 pm.  American citizens will be able to register to vote at the event both nights -- and to join Democrats Abroad if they wish.  Drinks and pub food will be available at cost.  The event itself is open to the public at no charge.

Today (June 12) is the final deadline for nationally recognized polls which are needed by the Dem hopefuls to qualify for inclusion in the debates.  The final information on who will be included in the debates will be available tomorrow.  To learn more, see https://fivethirtyeight.com/features/the-first-democratic-debate-deadline-is-almost-here-whos-in-and-whos-out/
