Hey New Yorkers abroad — your vote matters.

Your participation helps shape elections across the Empire State in 2026 statewide and federal races.

🌍 Voting from Abroad as a New Yorker

If you are a U.S. citizen living abroad and your last residence (or your U.S. parent's last residence) was in New York:

If you intend to return, you are eligible to vote in federal, state, and local elections. (You don't need to have a set date, just a current intention to return sometime in the future.)
If your intent to return is uncertain, you are eligible to vote in federal elections only (President, U.S. Senate, U.S. House).

✅ Improvements Are Coming for Overseas Voters

Right now, overseas NY voters may send in their form to request a ballot (the Federal Post Card Application, or FPCA) by email to meet the deadline, but they must also mail in the original signed form when returning their ballot. DA is working with the New York State Senate to advance legislation to allow the FPCA to be submitted by email without the need for a subsequent mailing, making it easier and less confusing to request your absentee ballot.

We’re continuing to work on improving and expanding access to voting from abroad so every eligible New Yorker can participate — no matter where in the world they live.
