End-of-Summer Beach Day with Suisse Romande DemsRSVP
CANCELLED DUE TO RAIN.
This event has been cancelled due to forecast for rain 10am-4pm Saturday.
Thank you for responding to our survey and selecting the Plage de Préverenges as our picnic beach! Join Democrats and their families August 26th for a Saturday afternoon Celebrate Sustainability picnic and swim. On the day, we'll have picnic lunch (BYO or buy at the local buvettes), a grill for us, swimming, and pedalo/canoe/paddleboard rental.
Highlight: We will be promoting sustainable living among ourselves and to our representatives in Washington through acts and action. Please join us in
- carrying out a planet-positive practice in coming to the beach: Avoid single-use plastics, Carpool, Pack organic or locally-grown foods, or Take train/bus. Then tell us about it.
- promote sustainable living by reaching out to your federal/state representatives via social media during the afternoon. Not sure what to say or how to get their attention? We’ll craft collective messages about our concerns and actions AND about Switzerland’s climate challenges and solutions. We'll even help find your rep's handles and hashtags!
- go home with Five Fingertip Facts on President Biden’s great progress on Climate/Environmental issues, to enrich your advocacy for 2024 Democratic races!
Useful info: The beach is very long with lawn and sand, public restrooms, showers & changing rooms. It is also a zero-trash area, so we carry out our trash.
Public transport: Train to Morges, then Bus 701, direction Bourdonnette, to Preverenges Village.
Or train S5 to Lonay-Preverenges, then Bus 705 two stops to Preverenges Village.
From bus stop, turn right onto Av. De Croix de Rive and walk 600m to western end of beach. Member Greg G will be at the bus stop with a wagon to help if you're overloaded!
Car: Parking lot at western end of beach, pretty big. If full, other parking is hard to find.
