🎬Juneteenth: Faith & Freedom — Film Screening & Discussion

Join us for a special screening of Juneteenth: Faith & Freedom, a powerful documentary directed by Ya’Ke Smith. The film follows a Black man’s journey through Texas as he wrestles with the legacy of American slavery and the misuse of Christianity to justify it. Along the way, he discovers the profound meaning of Juneteenth — the day marking the end of legalized slavery in Texas — through the voices and stories of the descendants of those first freed.
Juneteenth: Faith & Freedom offers a moving reflection on resilience, faith, and the enduring fight for justice. It reminds us that faith can be both a source of strength and a tool for liberation in the face of oppression.
Following the screening, we’ll hold a guided discussion on the documentary's themes and what Juneteenth means to us today.
Come be part of this inspiring and thought-provoking event as we honor the past, reflect on the present, and look toward a more just future — together.
