“Equality of rights under the law shall not be abridged by the United States or any state on account of sex." While more progress has been made in granting women equal footing in many areas, there is still a long way to go in pay equality and career advancement opportunities. I still remember when I was in high school, I wanted to participate in a journalism program offered by Junior Achievement. I walked over to their office near Symphony Hall to enroll and I was told that I could not participate because Junior Achievement was only for boys. I have never forgotten that I was discriminated against because I was a female. Until women’s rights are included in the Constitution, there is no guarantee that women will be treated equally.
