As an American living overseas, I know how difficult it is to live in a different country, and I can only imagine how difficult it must be for those like the Dreamers who face such significant threats.
Furthermore, I would like to voice my concerns about an issue coming out of the Department of Homeland Security. Recently, the Trump Administration announced that they would be closing international offices of the US Citizen & Immigration Services. The claim is that these tasks can be done by the State Department. However, I know how vital these services are for Americans adopting internationally, and those civilians and members of the military living abroad, who want to return home to the US. Shutting down these offices -- at a time when Trump seeks to reduce the State Department budget by over 20% -- will undoubtedly hurt these families that have every right to these services. This is compounded even further by the fact that wait time for immigration paperwork processing has doubled since Trump took office. I ask Congress to look into these issues which impact American families and prevent them from moving back to the United States.
