For the 4th of July this year, we invite you to join us at The Bird (best burgers in Hamburg, in my humble opinion) to celebrate the country we all love, and whose values we have been fighting for this past year.
We're also launching our Resistance Summer postcard campaign, so bring a pen and plan ten minutes for writing to Congress on healthcare, taxation, environmental issues, LGBT rights, voting rights, or another issue of your choosing! We'll have postcards and addresses at the ready and stamps for sale, too.
Christopher Street Day is August 5th in Hamburg, with the Straßenfest going August 4th-6th. DA Hamburg will have a stand set up for that long weekend to show our support and GOTV ahead of the 2018 election year.
We want to be present for as much of the 3 days of the Straßenfest as possible, but to do that, we really need your help! If you can volunteer just a couple hours of your time, please let us know (email@example.com) We want to have at least 1-2 people at the stand at all times, and are looking to divide this up with 2-hour shifts (if you can be there longer, all the better!).
Many of you have been living in Germany for many years. Perhaps you have contemplated applying for German citizenship, but were deterred by the German law requiring the renouncement of American citizenship.
Together with the naturalization authorities in Hamburg we invite you to an information evening about naturalization and dual-nationality. What are the rules? Are there exceptions? Where can I get more specific details concerning my situation?
The talk will be in German. However, an interpreter will be present.
You are welcome to pass this information on to other interested Americans.
