Come join us at the upcoming TACO Tuesday at the King Arthur Pub on the first Tuesday of the month. We'll discuss the results of the latest polls, share information that we are receiving from home, and support one another in these tumultuous times. We'll also talk about serious issues that we are keeping our eye on and the stirrings of positive energy that give us Hope.
First and foremost, though: Protect your vote Now! Register to Vote as an overseas voter.
We are keeping our eyes on:
Speaker Johnson sent the House home early rather than allow a vote on impeaching Secretary Hegseth, while simultaneously claiming that this Congress to be the "most productive in decades" (?!)
Trump embarrassed us with his speech at the UN General Assembly where he again threatened Iran with what would amount to war crimes, and declared that AI should be renamed to "Super Intelligence". He also again claimed the 2020 election was stolen.
The president attempted to stifle free speech by banning some news organizations from the White House.
Affordability is at the top of people’s minds, but the treasury secretary and other administration officials keep insisting there’s no problem and that prices "other than oil are sinking".
We still want to know where are the Epstein files????
But we are seeing signs of Hope:
The courts blocked the administration from requiring states to provide lists of eligible voters to the Post Office, and also struck definitively down an attempted gerrymander in Missouri.
The independent press and some legacy press are standing up to Trump and becoming increasingly outspoken. The attempt at shutting out journalists from the White House was quickly struck down by the courts. The First Amendment is still alive.
President Trump’s Approval Rating is still tanking...
Former MAGA voters are beginning to jump ship. In addition to affordability, opposition to data centers is becoming a hot issue and people are angry they are being ignored by the billionaires promoting them.
Democrats and independents are making inroads in the polls, even in red states.
We'll discuss what we can do between now and the election so that in November we can say: "We had the best chance in 30 or 40 years, we took it, and we won"!
See you on Tuesday. In the meantime, Stay Well and Stay Positive.
