U.S. Expat Tax Seminar: The Basics, The New Law, And Advocating For Fairness

Confused, exhausted, or stressed about your required annual U.S. federal tax submission? The Victorian branch of Democrats Abroad Australia is pleased to announce a seminar event intended solely for Americans living abroad.

Join us for an opportunity to learn from Karen E. Powell, U.S. attorney and tax professor, as she explains the basics of what tax forms you need to file while living in Australia and what commonly-heard IRS terms like “FATCA” and “FBAR” mean. Because of the automatic two-month extension, June 15th is the deadline for expats to file their U.S. taxes, but for many American retirees, small business owners, students, and others, this date can be an annual accounting nightmare.

This will certainly be a great evening. Do you have an American friend or family member who might be interested in attending? Feel free to bring them along. Please RSVP to this event below and we look forward to seeing you there!

Note: The information presented at this event does not constitute legal or tax advice. It is intended to educate Democrats Abroad members with an overview of U.S. tax obligations while living abroad.
