Lübeck Precinct Christmas Gathering

by Debbie and Brian Eisenach
Lübeck precinct enjoyed an evening of great company and holiday cheer at the Medieval Market, which sits beneath the imposing Marienkirche with the twinkling lanterns, cheerful Lübeckers, and mild weather (unlike the rain last year),. The Irish folk band Vinter Folk added to the festive spirit, making the evening even more memorable.

We were delighted to see local veterans Cynthia, Thomas, Christopher, Sam and Lisa, along with those who journeyed to join us—Justin'e from Würzburg and Lindsey from Hamburg. We also warmly welcomed a few new faces, including Shannon, Laurie, and Joe.

After an exhausting election season, many of us were still in shock and grappling with what comes next. Yet, despite the disappointment, we found comfort in coming together, sharing stories, and reaffirming why we stay engaged. When the market closed, we attempted to continue the evening elsewhere, but with most places full, we returned to our second home, YouSpeak, where Cynthia once again graciously provided drinks and snacks.

We’re already looking forward to our next Democrats Abroad Lübeck gathering—whether that be a pub crawl, a picnic in the park, a rooftop BBQ, or a potluck to celebrate an American holiday.

In summary,  living far from our families, this gathering filled us with heartfelt feelings of thankfulness. We feel truly blessed to have found this group, a community that brings warmth and friendship during the holiday season and beyond.
