Born in Boston, Massachusetts, Malaika Kusumi believes strongly in the values of the Democratic Party. Though she has never considered herself a highly political person, she is determined and committed to ensuring America’s government remains free of dictatorial leaders. “I [despise] bullies and do not tolerate bullying.”
Kusumi therefore made the decision to run to become a DNC Delegate for Democrats Abroad. “I am sharp and can get things done. Deciding to run for a position comes with great power, determination and clarity of purpose. I want to put democracy in action for those who are not usually politically involved. Fighting for [democracy] is everyone’s business.”
Kusumi, who currently resides in Frankfurt, Germany is looking forward to seeing democracy in action at the Democratic National Convention. She is also excited to be inspired by the progressive youth and gain experience with the Congressional Black Caucus. And she is thrilled to have the opportunity to see presumptive nominee Kamala Harris in action.
To get out the vote and help Harris gain support, Kusumi will continue phone banking and conversing deeply with those who have lost faith in the voting process.
