Born in Chapel Hill, NC, Keith Brannum launched his work on political campaigns in 2012 supporting the Obama/Biden ticket. He had long been a champion of Joe Biden, with whom he shared a similar background as both a Catholic and a social justice-conscious advocate. Biden had previously inspired Brannum to become a Democrat in 2008 and ultimately helped him to navigate his place in the party and run to become a delegate for Democrats Abroad.

Brannum, who currently resides in Istanbul, Turkey now has 10 years of Democratic campaign experience. As both an expatriate and a party leader, Brannum aims to ensure Americans’ ability to make their voices heard from abroad. With this goal in mind, he has previously worked alongside volunteers to organize the Overseas Democratic Primary throughout Turkey, and formed voter registration and assistance teams.

Now, Brannum will serve as At-Large Delegate for Democrats Abroad EMEA to the Democratic National Convention 2024. “I am excited to join Democrats from across the country, including states I once worked in, to talk about the work mobilizing voters overseas. I am thankful to Democrats Abroad for the opportunity to use my 10 years of Democratic campaign experience to advocate for overseas Americans.”

Through building networks at the convention, Brannum hopes to connect his network to support non-organized DA communities operating outside of the country committees. Backing these communities will ultimately allow DA to grow voter turnout and enable those members to remain organized in the future.

To get out the vote and bolster support for presumptive nominee Kamala Harris in his battleground state, Brannum will work to raise awareness of his voter committee program to organize in communities across the NCC region.
