Now is not the time to sit on the sidelines. Democracy and hard-won rights are under attack in the United States. From reproductive justice to voting rights, from climate action to LGBTQ+ protections, the fight is far from over—and we need everyone to take action.
Here in Madrid we have a range of volunteer opportunities for those ready to step up, get organized, and resist:
- Events organization: Support Sean Dempsey, DA Madrid Events Coordinator, in organizing events. This could include recruiting speakers, identifying venues, day-of support, etc.
- Press Coordinator: Coordinate media relations for DA Madrid (not a spokesperson). Should be bilingual.
- Spokespeople: Would need to get DA media trained and be available for interviews with the press. Should be bilingual.
- Content creation support: Support Tim Ginter, DA Madrid Communications Director, create content for our communications efforts (social media, events pages, protest signs, etc.)
- TikTok platform manager: Help set-up and run our TikTok account.
- Website updating/management: Help keep our DA Madrid website up-to-date and visually appealing.
- Signal group community manager: Help admin a soon-to-be-created DA Madrid Signal group.
- Committee members - Increasing membership: This group would help us design strategies to reach new members. Ideas include university students, auxiliaries, digital nomads, retirees, people who attend American Club or InterNations events, etc.
- Committee members - Protest organizing: This group would help us increase capacity to organize protests in Madrid.
- Committee members - Fundraising: Help strategize and organize our chapter's fundraising activities.
- Youth organizing: Help organize engagement with study abroad students, first-time voters, etc.
- LGBTQ+ Caucus organizing: Help organize events and activities with the Madrid-based LGBTQ+ Caucus, including Pride.
