Mérida, Yucatán – ON October 18, 2025 — Democrats Abroad, the official international arm of the U.S. Democratic Party, will peacefully gather from Noon to 3:00 at Hennessy’s Irish Pub on Paseo de Montejo.
On October 18, Millions of concerned citizens around the world are rising again to show that America has no kings, and the power belongs to the people. We want people to understand what the current U.S. Federal Government is doing and how it affects all of us.
U.S. citizens worry about a wide range of U.S. administration policies, including the very real attacks on freedom of speech and the right to due process, cuts to healthcare (Medicare), the loss of human rights for U.S. women and other marginalized communities, immigration raids and mass deportations being conducted without due process, tariffs causing economic turmoil in the U.S. and beyond, the possible cuts to Social Security and the loss of voting rights for those living abroad, and much more.
● Our goal for this rally is to show support to U.S. citizens here in Mérida and our Mexican and Canadian friends and neighbors — and to stand in solidarity against the needless destruction coming from the current U.S. Federal Government. We are sending a moral message: It shouldn’t be this way.
● We want U.S. citizens to be informed about what is happening in the U.S., what these new
policies mean, and what effect they will have on U.S. citizens living in Mexico.
● We also encourage people to take action. One of the most effective ways for U.S. citizens to influence U.S. policy is to call their elected officials, share their opinion, and make their voice heard. We help make this process easy.
Democrats Abroad has operated in Mexico for 25 years, with active chapters across the country. The organization protects the right to vote from abroad, advocates for issues that concern U.S. citizens abroad, and more.
Most importantly we help U.S. citizens living abroad register and vote in U.S. elections!
We will be answering any questions you may have about voting at the rally!
