CALIFORNIA IS HOLDING ITS CRUCIAL MIDTERM ELECTIONS – MAKE SURE YOUR VOICE IS HEARD!
DA Data Privacy Policy
What elections are there in California? What am I voting for?
Voting has never been more important and your vote is crucial!
California will hold its midterm elections for US Representatives and US Senators as well as state-wide offices for Governor, State Supreme Court, and your state representatives and state senators.
All California overseas voters can vote in these important elections!
California is a blue state, but there are several US House districts that we need to fight to keep Democratic!
And please vote in ALL the races on your ballot – California state elections are hugely important! State governments are responsible for voting and also for state policies on abortion and reproductive rights, climate change, education, and so many other issues that affect us no matter where we are in the world.

1) Register to Vote and Request Your Ballot Today
It's easy to request your ballot – and once you’re registered, California will send you a ballot for all elections you’re eligible to vote in.
Go to www.votefromabroad.org and follow the prompts to fill out the form to register to vote, the Federal Post Card Application form (FPCA). To ensure you receive your ballot in time, please check the box on the FPCA to have your blank ballot sent to you by “Email/Online” or “Fax.”
-
If you are registered to vote, you should receive a ballot automatically, but it’s a good idea to send in an FPCA to confirm your status, and you must send one in if you need to update your information. You can send in your FPCA by email (recommended) or fax or mail and it must be received by November 1, 2022.
-
If you are NOT registered to vote, you can submit your FPCA by fax or mail (email is not accepted). Your FPCA must be received (or postmarked) by October 24, 2022.
For ideas on how to fax your form even if you don’t have access to a fax machine, please click here.
Special – Registering to vote using California’s online registration:
If you have a California driver’s license or other state identification, you may submit your voter registration online using the California website: https://registertovote.ca.gov
You can check your voter registration status online using: www.sos.ca.gov/elections/registration-status.
You may need to use a Virtual Private Network (VPN) to connect to this website from outside the US. For more information about how to use a VPN, please click here.
2) When You Get Your Ballot, Fill It Out and Send It Back Right Away
Ballots started going out on September 24, 2022. If you asked for your ballot by email, be sure to check your spam folder and any secondary inboxes.
We recommend you return your ballot by fax to make sure your ballot gets to California by the deadline. Your ballot must be received in California by November 8, 2022, at 8 pm California time.
If you return your ballot by mail, it must be postmarked no later than November 8, 2022, AND it also must be received in California by November 15, 2022.
For ideas on how to fax your ballot even if you don’t have access to a fax machine, please click here.
3) Confirm That Your Ballot Was Accepted and Counted
After you send in your ballot, make sure your vote is counted!
You can check your ballot status online using: https://california.ballottrax.net/voter
You may need to use a Virtual Private Network (VPN) to connect to this website from outside the US. For more information about how to use a VPN, please click here.
Or, you can email or call your local election office directly. You can find the contact information at: www.votefromabroad.org/states/CA; scroll down to "Find Your Election Office."
And if there is a problem with your ballot, you may be able to fix it – but the earlier you send it in, the more time you’ll have.
