I am Professor Sherley Louis ( Dr Sherley Louis), an international school leader based in the United Arab Emirates. After nearly missing the Global Presidential Primary election because I received information too late, I became involved with Democrats Abroad to help ensure that Americans living overseas receive timely information and have every opportunity to exercise their right to vote.

Throughout my education career in the United States, I worked with the United Teachers of Dade (UTD) and served as a delegate with the American Federation of Teachers (AFT), the National Education Association (NEA), and the Florida Education Association (FEA). I advocated for public education, fair educator salaries, language access, affordable healthcare, and equitable opportunities for educators, students and families.

I was appointed by former Miami-Dade County Public Schools Superintendent Alberto Carvalho and former UTD President Karla Hernández-Mats to serve on the M-DCPS/UTD Special Education Task Force. As one of 26 appointed members, I represented students receiving special education services across the district.

I was also selected by Alpha Delta Kappa's World Understanding Project and UTD's Education Beyond Borders initiative to participate in international educational exchanges, sharing best practices with educators and students abroad. These experiences strengthened my commitment to advocacy, community engagement, and public service.
