One Retirement, Two Plans: Blending Social Security & CPP

As an American living in Canada, do you have questions about how to access Social Security and the Canada Pension Plan?  Lots of us do–which is why so many of you asked for this webinar!

On Thursday, 29 October, 8PM Eastern, we will hear from Jason Ubeika and Grant Campbell of BDO Canada on a host of issues having to do with U.S. Social Security and CPP, such as:

  • Program overview and eligibility requirements for the Canada Pension Plan, Canadian Old Age Security and U.S. Social Security

  • Impact of Canada - U.S. Totalization Agreement on Social Security contribution requirements and eligibility for benefits

  • Canadian and U.S. taxation of Social Security benefits

  • Medical coverage for U.S. citizens living in Canada

Following the presentation we'll participate in a lively Q & A.  Please bring your own questions and join us as we try to find some answers.

Jason Ubeika joined BDO Canada in 1993. Since 2003, he has specialized in Canada – U.S. cross-border taxation, including tax compliance and related planning and advisory services.  His primary focus is the cross-border taxation of individuals and trusts, and particularly U.S. taxation services for private clients.

Jason is actively involved in developing policies and standards for BDO Canada's Expatriate Tax practice and has presented on cross-border tax topics at conferences hosted by various organizations, including the Canadian Tax Foundation, CPA Canada, Bloomberg BNA, the American Immigration Lawyers Association, and the Portfolio Management Association of Canada.
