What to Do Wednesday
Your Weekly Guide to Staying Politically Active—From Abroad
Wednesday, 15 October, 2025
Dear Democrats Abroad Italy Member,
EVERY ELECTION MATTERS — INCLUDING 2025
Your vote matters—every year, every election. While America looks ahead to 2026, critical elections in California, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, Virginia, and more are happening NOW. Overseas ballots swing close races. Do you vote in one of these states? Visit VoteFromAbroad.org and request your ballot today. Remind friends to do the same—your vote is your voice.
Do you need help? Let us know at [email protected]
Who’s voting this year:
- California: Statewide Special Election on November 4, 2025, plus local contests. All active voters receive a vote-by-mail ballot. Register by October 20 at sos.ca.gov.
- New Jersey: State legislative elections that will determine control of both chambers.
- Pennsylvania: Voters will decide on key judicial offices, including state Supreme Court, Superior Court, and Commonwealth Court seats, as well as local municipal races.
- Virginia: Local and state races that will shape the state’s political direction.
- Arizona, Texas, Florida, New York, Oklahoma: Multiple special elections for Congress, state legislatures and local government throughout 2025.
Urgent Action: Defend Your Voting Rights
The U.S. Election Assistance Commission (EAC)—the federal agency guiding how elections are run—is considering a rule that threatens to make voter registration much harder, especially for Americans abroad. The proposed rule would force voters to submit extra paperwork, like a passport, just to register—making it harder for students, overseas citizens, and low-income Americans to vote. This change comes from America First Legal (Stephen Miller’s group, Ugh!), aiming to suppress overseas and vulnerable voters. We must act to stop this attempt to silence us!
How you can take direct action TODAY:
-
Submit a public comment to EAC before October 20:
eac.gov/contact/eac-requests-public-comment
Tell them why making registration harder would harm overseas voters, and demand fair, accessible elections. You can use one of our premade templates - Share this alert with EVERYONE you know—your story, your urgency, your call to protect our fundamental right!
- Ask three friends to comment today. Together, we can make a difference.
