What to Do Wednesday
Your Weekly Guide to Staying Politically Active—From Abroad

Trump’s threats cross a line. Silence is not an option. We must speak out now!
Donald Trump has vowed to obliterate “a whole civilization” if his demands were not met. This is a direct threat of mass violence, not leadership.
Threatening to use the U.S. military to wipe out a country is a grave abuse of power and a violation of fundamental human rights. It is reckless, dangerous, and must be condemned without hesitation.
As Americans living abroad, we carry a unique responsibility. The world hears these words as coming from our country. Silence risks complicity.
Take Action Now
- Speak out. Contact your Members of Congress. Post publicly. Be clear: threats of war crimes in our name are unacceptable. Here are two email templates, one to your Members of Congress and one to your Governor. Feel free to use and share widely. You can also call your elected officials using 5 Calls
- Share verified information. Use credible sources such as Reuters, Associated Press, and The Guardian.
- Support diplomacy and international law. No exceptions.
- Take action with Democrats Abroad. Request your overseas ballot, register voters and mobilize your network.
Why This Matters
Multiple reports confirm that President Trump’s rhetoric includes explicit threats against civilian populations and infrastructure — conduct unmistakably prohibited under the Geneva Conventions and the Rome Statute of the International Criminal Court, which classify such threats and actions as war crimes and crimes against humanity.
While a temporary ceasefire has been announced, this is a pause, not a resolution, we must continue to pressure our elected officials to take action.
What matters is this:
- Threatening civilians is never acceptable
- This rhetoric increases the risk of real conflict
- It damages global trust in the United States
Words at this level are not symbolic. They signal intent.
Positive Momentum
- Lawmakers and global leaders are pushing back
- Allies are calling for restraint and diplomacy
- Americans at home and abroad are speaking out
This pressure matters. It only works if we act.
