Merry Christmas & Wishing You a Hope-Filled Holiday Season
Dear Democrats Abroad Italy friends,
On this Christmas Day, I want to begin simply by wishing you and your loved ones a very Merry Christmas and a peaceful, restorative holiday season. Wherever you are in Italy, at a crowded family table, on a quiet walk, or holding space for traditions far from home, please know how deeply grateful we are for this community.
As we pause at the close of the year, it’s worth naming something that brings a quiet but real sense of hope.
Recent polls show historically low approval numbers for the current U.S. administration. While polls are not outcomes, they are signals. This signal tells us something important: Americans are paying attention, expectations are shifting, and the desire for change is growing.
That matters.
It means that the work we care about is not only necessary. It is possible. The ground is moving. The door is opening.
But this week, the call to action is not urgency.
This Week’s Action: Rest & Reconnect
This What to Do Wednesday is intentionally simple:
-
Rest your body and your mind
-
Reconnect with family and friends
-
Step away from the noise
-
Remember what you are working to protect
Sustainable political engagement requires grounded people. We cannot show up fully in the new year if we do not allow ourselves this pause.
Looking Ahead: January 1st and Beyond
Starting January 1st, we shift gears together.
-
Overseas ballot requests open
-
Voter outreach begins in earnest
-
Our work toward winning the 2026 midterms accelerates
Every ballot request matters. Every conversation matters. Every volunteer hour matters. And when Americans abroad show up, we change elections.
So take this week to refill your cup.
Next week, we move forward together, rested, focused, and ready.
Thank you for being part of Democrats Abroad Italy. Thank you for your persistence, your care, and your belief that things can change. Because they can, and they will.
Wishing you warmth, joy, and peace this Christmas, and renewed determination for the year ahead.
With gratitude and hope,
Leyani Redditi
