What to Do Wednesday
Your Weekly Guide to Staying Politically Active—From Abroad
Wednesday 3 June 2026
This week, we are asking you to take urgent, coordinated action.
Disturbing reports about conditions at the Delaney detention facility have made one thing clear: we cannot stay silent in the face of inhumane treatment carried out in our name. No matter your politics, this should alarm every American. This is not who we are, and it is on us to prove it through our actions.
As Americans abroad, our voices carry a unique weight. When Members of Congress hear from constituents voting from overseas, they know the world is watching. We must demand that they act immediately.
Call and write your Senators and Representative and urge them to:
- Launch a full and independent investigation into the Delaney facility.
- Hold all responsible parties accountable, from facility operators to federal leadership, including the Department of Homeland Security.
- Examine the role of private contractors, including GEO Group, in perpetuating these conditions.
- Use every available oversight tool—hearings, subpoenas, inspections—to ensure transparency and accountability.
Delaney is not an isolated case. It is a warning sign.
We must push Congress to investigate conditions across all ICE detention centers and ensure that every facility meets basic standards of humane treatment and human dignity. Anything less falls short of our values, our laws, and our basic humanity.
And there is another crucial step: we must vote.
The only way to truly stop this corrupt administration and change the policies that enable these abuses is at the ballot box. Request your ballot now, help your friends and family do the same, and make a concrete plan to vote in every election—up and down the ballot.
Take Action Today
- Call your Members of Congress (you can reach the Capitol switchboard at +1 202-224-3121). Here is a script you can use.
- Send an email through your Senators’ and Representative’s official websites. Here is a template you can use.
- Request your absentee ballot today and help at least one other American abroad do the same. Go to Vote from Abroad today.
- Share this issue with your networks and encourage others to call, write, and vote.
Your voice matters. When Americans abroad speak out—loudly, persistently, and as voters—it sends a powerful message that abuses in our name will not be ignored.
As Desmond Tutu reminded us, “If you are neutral in situations of injustice, you have chosen the side of the oppressor.” We cannot turn a blind eye.
