Member-at-Large, Geneva Chapter
I am a New Yorker who moved to Switzerland in 1991. I studied international relations and have always been interested in politics. Recent events in the US have scared me into finally trying to be more active. I am particularly concerned about environmental issues, foreign policy, protecting our democracy and strengthening social solidarity.
On arrival in Geneva I joined the World Economic Forum. I then spent 27 years with the UN Environment Programme, the Group on Earth Observations and the World Meteorological Organization working on press and communications in the fields of climate change and the environment. I retired end-2017 (although I still work a bit). My work profile is detailed at michaeljwilliams.ch/michael-at-home.
My wife and I now live in Vaud and the Valais. Our three children live in Spain and Australia. I look forward to engaging with Americans in Switzerland to advance Democratic Party values and policies back home in the US of A.
