BHM - Rest and Rise: A Wellness Workshop for Black Activists and Allies
Rest and Rise: A Wellness Workshop for Global Majority Activists and Allies is an interactive wellness workshop designed specifically for Global Majority political activists. You are the vanguard of change, inheritors of a rich legacy of resistance, resilience, and transformation. This workshop is a space to honor your work, recharge your spirits, and cultivate practices that sustain you for the long haul.
What to expect:
- Participate in a brief history lesson on activism in our community
- Participate in a brief history lesson on activism with our allies
- Introduction to leading wellness voices in our community
- Participate in a brief history lesson on mindfulness in our community
- Participate in several mindfulness exercises
- After party - time for reflection, feedback, and Q&A
What you need:
- A journal/tablet/piece of paper and pen for writing
- Comfy clothes
- A chair with a back and no wheels or wheels locked. If your feet don’t reach the floor, something to support your feet, like books
- Water, tea, or?
- Tissue/handkerchief if your nose is runny or stuffy
What you’ll leave with:
- Mindfulness tools you can use
- A new fun fact
- A sense of community
- A sense of renewal
About Adrianne George:
Adrianne George is the author of Wellness on the Weekly: 52 Fun Prompts For Mindfulness, Movement, and a Whole Lot Less Stress! She is a Mindfulness Activist and was a Democratic National Committee Member (DNC) for Democrats Abroad (DA) from 2016-2024. While serving on the DNC, she was Secretary of the Midwestern Region Caucus and a member of the standing Credentials Committee and the 2024 Democratic National Convention Credentials Committee. She's held various roles with Democrats Abroad Sweden and served on several DA International Committees. She votes in DC from Sweden (DC Statehood!) and volunteers as a Yoga Teacher with the Veterans Yoga Project online twice weekly. Adrianne leads mindfulness workshops for remote teams, conferences, creative communities, and private events. She teaches groups via Livestream and works privately with individuals to help them find their Yoga and path to stress management.
