Less than One Week Until the Democratic National Convention:
Excitement about Biden-Harris Ticket and the Participation of Three Delegates from Germany
August 13, 2020 –With less than one week away from the Democratic National Convention (DNC), Democrats Abroad Germany is excited to support Vice President Joe Biden’s newly announced running mate Kamala Harris and be sending three delegates to officially vote to confirm the Party’s presidential nominee. “There is a lot of momentum leading into next week, amplified by the addition of Kamala Harris to the ticket, and we’re looking forward to keeping it up through Election Day,” said Candice Kerestan, Chair of Democrats Abroad Germany.
The Convention, entitled the “Convention Across America”, will be held virtually from August 17-20, 2020. Nearly 4,000 delegates – committed to a certain presidential candidate based on states’ primary election results – will cast their votes for the Democratic presidential nominee as well as for the 2020 Democratic Party Platform and Convention Rules. Some voting has already begun.
Democrats Abroad will send a total of 21 delegates to the DNC, all of whom are U.S. citizens living overseas. Besides the United States, Germany will be the most represented country at the event, supported by Ty Cofield (Frankfurt/Warsaw, Bernie Sanders delegate), Anya Leonhard (Leipzig, Bernie Sanders delegate), Diego Rivas (Berlin, Bernie Sanders delegate), and Katie Solon (Prien am Chiemsee, Democratic National Committee member).

Aufregung um das Biden-Harris-Ticket und die Teilnahme von drei Delegierten aus Deutschland
13. August 2020 - Nur noch wenige Woche bis zur Democratic National Convention (DNC)! Democrats Abroad Germany freut sich darauf, die von Joe Biden als Vize gewählte Kamala Harris zu unterstützen. "Mit der Entscheidung für Kamela Harris wird ein großer Schwung innerhalb der Partei erwartet, der bis zum Wahltag anhält", so Candice Kerestan, die Vorsitzende der Democrats Abroad Germany.
Democrats Abroad wird insgesamt 21 Delegierte in den DNC entsenden, die alle US-Bürger sind und im Ausland leben. Neben den Vereinigten Staaten wird Deutschland das am stärksten vertretene Land bei der Veranstaltung sein, unterstützt von den drei jungen Delegierten von Bernie Sanders: Ty Cofield (Frankfurt/Warschau), Anya Leonhard (Leipzig) und Diego Rivas (Berlin).

Die Democratic National Convention (DNC), genannt " Kongress quer durch Amerika", wird praktisch vom 17. bis zum 20. August 2020 stattfinden. Fast 4.000 Delegierte, die sich auf der Grundlage der Vorwahlergebnisse der Bundesstaaten auf einen bestimmten Präsidentschaftskandidaten festgelegt haben, werden ihre Stimme für den Präsidentschaftskandidaten der Demokraten sowie für die Programm- und Kongressregeln der Demokratischen Partei 2020 abgeben.
Über Demokraten im Ausland
Democrats Abroad ist die offizielle Organisation der Demokratischen Partei für Bürger der Vereinigten Staaten, die dauerhaft oder vorübergehend im Ausland leben. Die Organisation wird auf Bundesstaatsebene vom Demokratischen Nationalkomitee mit acht Positionen im Demokratischen Nationalkomitee anerkannt und entsendet eine Stimmdelegation zum Demokratischen Nationalkongress, um unseren Präsidentschaftskandidaten auszuwählen.
