CANCELLED: Build Accessibility to Advance Human Rights, Avoid Risks, and Enable More Voters

A Conversation with Lainey Feingold

Leading International Digital Accessibility and Structured Negotiation Attorney

Ms. Feingold is an editor and one of 39 authors of a forthcoming book called Digital Accessibility Ethics: Disability Inclusion in All Things Tech. The book introduces the Digital Accessibility Ethics Framework, an action-oriented, three-part tool designed to disrupt disability exclusion in tech with values, actions and questions. The authors, who are from 10 countries with a combined total of 600 years of disability and accessibility experience, apply the Framework to topics including cybersecurity, AI, accessibility practitioner burnout, voting, marketing, hackathons, publishing and more. Her first book is titled Structured Negotiation, A Winning Alternative to Lawsuits.

In today's chaotic and often frightening world, digital innovation offers both accessibility and opportunity, but it also presents risks. We live in an era where truth, justice, and freedom can feel elusive, and the rule of law is treated by some as disposable. This situation allows violence and illegal and/or unconstitutional actions to proliferate under the guise of legitimate law enforcement.

At the same time, laws and policies across the globe are expanding to recognize that digital accessibility is a human and civil right of disabled people. During these difficult times in the U.S., the disability community and allies continue to both enforce disability rights laws and join the resistance to federal attacks on civil rights.

Join us for an important discussion about the critical role of accessibility as we find our way to truth, justice, and the information and resources necessary for everyone with and without disabilities to thrive.
