DA Denmark Book Club Discusses "Heavy: An American Memoir" with special guest Kiese Laymon
RSVPDemocrats Abroad Denmark Book Club is excited to invite you to join us online on April 18th at 6:30 pm for the discussion of our April book "Heavy: An American Memior" by Kiese Laymon! With its raw honesty and searing prose, this memoir is a powerful and deeply personal exploration of growing up Black in the American South, grappling with issues of race, family, and identity.
We are also thrilled to announce that we will be hosting a very special guest at our next book club meeting. Kiese Laymon, the author of "Heavy: An American Memoir", has graciously agreed to participate in our discussion. Mr. Laymon is a highly acclaimed author, essayist, and professor of English and Creative Writing at Rice University. He is known for his frank and powerful writing that tackles themes of race, identity, and inequality in contemporary America. Mr. Laymon's work has been widely praised for its fearless exploration of difficult topics, as well as its literary excellence. In addition to his critically acclaimed memoir, he is the author of several books including the novels "How to Slowly Kill Yourself and Others in America" and "Long Division". Through his writing and teaching, Mr. Laymon has become a powerful voice in the ongoing conversation about race and social justice in America.
Our book club meetings are open to all and we believe this book will provide an enriching and thought-provoking experience.
