Virtual Dinner Party and AGM
What’s up with the rise of the far-right? How come there has been a re-emergence of anti-Semitism and Islamophobia? How will COVID-19 affect the US and New Zealand elections? Join the discussion. DANZ is proud to present our annual meeting in a Virtual Dinner Party format with a very special guest speaker, where we can learn more about what lies ahead, ask those important questions on your mind, and find out how you can get involved.

Stay Safe!
Due to the measures to contain COVID-19, we don’t want to encourage get togethers for this event. By running the event virtually, we can help keep each other safe. We will send out another email closer to the date to help you log in and attend the meeting.
Who will be talking?
Massey University Distinguished Professor Paul Spoonley is a sociologist who is working on a book about the far right and its rise and rise, especially ultra-nationalists and white supremacists and the re-emergence of anti-Semitism and Islamaphobia.
Following the talk, we’ll be treated to a conversation between Paul and fellow sociologist Steve Maharey. Steve is an Independent Director who previously was the Vice-Chancellor of Massey University and before that a Senior Minister in the New Zealand Government. Among Steve’s areas of interest are politics, social change and social policy. Then we’ll throw the floor open for your questions.
After that, we’ll have a quick and efficient annual general meeting to talk about our upcoming 2020 activities, such as Get Out the Vote, CallHub, Vote from Abroad, and how you can get involved. We hope to see you there (virtually)!
