Democrats Abroad France is a 100% volunteer-run organization, and our leaders are elected every two years for a two-year term. We organize social and political activities that promote our Democratic ideals and values, and encourage the American community to exercise their right to vote. We are looking for individuals who would like to get more involved!
The nomination period for candidates is open and the deadline to submit your candidacy is February 18, 2023. Elections will take place on March 12, 2023 (more information to come shortly)
We are looking for candidates for the following positions:
CHAPTER CHAIR
- Calls meetings (usually one per month);
- Presides at all meetings using Roberts Rules of Order;
- Establishes the agenda of such meetings;
- Is responsible for implementing the programs, policies, and activities duly approved by leadership;
The Chapter Chair is a voting member of the DA France Executive Committee and should attend the monthly WebEx meetings or designate someone else to carry the proxy.
The Chapter Chair can also attend EMEA WebEx meetings once a month and EMEA regional meetings, if possible.
The Chair needs good computer skills and ability to use various platforms. (Training is offered to newcomers.) The most frequently used platforms include NationBuilder, WebEx, Zoom, Google Docs, Facebook and Twitter.
CHAPTER VICE-CHAIR
The Chapter Vice-Chair assists and supports the Chapter Chair in the execution of the Chapter Chair’s duties. In the absence of the Chapter Chair, the Vice-Chair assumes the Chair’s duties.
CHAPTER TREASURER
The Chapter Treasurer manages the finances of the chapter and coordinates with the DA France Country Treasurer to ensure the chapter’s finances are in order. Financial reports are sent to the DAF Treasurer as needed.
CHAPTER SECRETARY
The Chapter Secretary takes minutes of Chapter Executive Committee meetings and all Annual General and Special Meetings of the chapter members.
The Chapter Secretary is also called upon to send mailings to members via DA’s NationBuilder system after getting training on how the system operates.
Candidates for this roles should have experience with (or be willing to learn) tools such as MS Office, Google Docs, WebEx, etc., and technology such as the NationBuilder membership database.
MEMBERS-AT-LARGE
This post is suitable for volunteers with various skills, interests and availability to help realize the goals of the chapter.
This could include skills such as translating documents into French, helping to develop and organize events (social, political, cultural) to build membership, phone-banking members during election campaigns and assisting with social media and general communications with our members.
ELIGIBILITY
Candidates should be members of Democrats Abroad France, living in the Toulouse region, and be able to serve a two-year term. Previous DA experience is welcome but not necessary.
TO MAKE A NOMINATION
You may nominate yourself or nominate someone else. Nominees should prepare a statement of no more than 200 words outlining their background and relevant skills for the position they are seeking. Final candidate statements should be submitted before the nominations period closes on February 18, 2023.

Candidates should be prepared to attend a Meet & Greet event (date and time tbd soon) and talk about their candidacy.
