On July 6th, we'll mark America's 249th birthday, and our hopes of what America may become in the future-- a celebration of freedom, justice, and courage against tyranny, echoing that bold Declaration on July 4th, 1776.
In the spirit of summer BBQs, let's celebrate the values that Independence Day means to us.
From 3PM, we'll meet at the same picnic spot as Juneteenth and Cinco de Mayo-- north of Demachi Bridge, on the west side of the Kamo River. In the event of rain, we will relocate under the nearby Aoi Bridge.
This event is open to everyone, regardless of nationality or opinion. Feel free to invite your friends. We'll provide the music, picnic spot, and chill vibes. Bring something you'd like to share. Wear red, white, and blue, or not. Let's celebrate independence, democracy, community!
“Remember, remember always, that all of us, and you and I especially, are descended from immigrants and revolutionists.” —President Franklin D. Roosevelt
