ICE is no longer functioning like an accountable law enforcement agency. It’s become the vicious, unrepentant, masked arm of an authoritarian regime. Congress must step in and stop its abuses.
Under the Trump administration, ICE has carried out murders and aggressive raids, run mass surveillance and abusive detention practices targeting immigrants, U.S. citizens, protesters, and Democratic-led cities. The fatal shooting of U.S. citizen Renee Nicole Good in Minneapolis by an ICE agent shows how far ICE has strayed from accountability and public safety. These actions are designed to create fear, silence opposition, and normalize state intimidation.
Please raise your voice today and stand against this unacceptable repression! Call your U.S. House Representative and Senators and demand immediate oversight of ICE and an end to its lawlessness.
What Is Happening
ICE’s recent actions go far beyond ordinary immigration enforcement. Federal agents have used violence against legal observers and peaceful protesters, most shockingly in Minneapolis where ICE agents shot and killed U.S. citizen Renee Nicole Good, a 37-year-old mother of three. Despite video evidence and expert criticism of the use of force, federal leaders have defended the agent’s actions as “self-defense,” fueling national outrage and protests demanding accountability and transparency.
Across the country, the administration has singled out Democratic-led cities such as Los Angeles, Chicago, Charlotte, and Portland for politically motivated operations, and targeted specific immigrant communities like the Somali population in Minnesota.
Tens of thousands of people have been swept up in mass enforcement actions where individuals effectively disappear into detention with no clear information for their families.
Hundreds of U.S. citizens have also been wrongfully detained, often due to racial profiling, and family separation policies have been revived. Surveillance technologies, from facial recognition to phone hacking and license-plate tracking, are being used to monitor immigrants and activists.
At the same time, the administration has paused green cards and citizenship applications for people from dozens of countries and canceled naturalization ceremonies nationwide.
Why This Matters
This is not immigration enforcement. It is authoritarian power being tested in real time.
When federal agents can detain citizens, disappear people into detention, spy on protesters, and use violence without accountability, everyone is at risk.
For Americans living abroad, the danger is deeply personal. Our international families are terrified of returning to the United States. Parents fear putting their children at risk. Spouses worry that travel could lead to detention, separation, or worse. People are being forced to choose between their country and their family’s safety.
Congress has the authority to stop this. Demand they use it now.
