Pints, Pixels, and Politics: LGBTQ+ Asylum Seekers

DA Canada LGBTQ+ Caucus and DA Toronto Chapter present:

Pints, Pixels, and Politics: LGBTQ+ Asylum Seekers
We are joined by Buffalo-Based immigration attorney, Adela Smehlik, who will discuss her work with LGBTQ+ asylum seekers in Western New York.

Adela is an Immigration Staff Attorney at Journey’s End Refugee Services. She attended the University of Pittsburgh and the University at Buffalo School of Law, where she interned at Journey’s End before joining the Journey’s End Refugee Services team as an AmeriCorps Equal Justice Works fellow in 2018.

Today, Adela works as the primary immigration attorney for the Survivors of Torture program, a partnership lead by Jewish Family Services. Adela specializes in asylum law, removal defense in immigration Court, and serving our LGBTQ+ immigrant populations.

Join us for this timely and important discussion!
