The Democrats Abroad Executive Committee, led by Chair Martha McDevitt-Pugh, stands with DNC Chair Ken Martin and the majority of Senate Democrats and Democratic Leadership who opposed yesterday's vote to end the government shutdown without securing healthcare protections or addressing the needs of working families. They believe that ending the shutdown without meaningful commitments to protect healthcare and working people is short-sighted and fails to meet the responsibilities of governing.
"The American people deserve a government that reopens responsibly, one that safeguards affordable healthcare, strengthens the economy, and upholds the basic promises we make to families and communities. Anything less does a disservice to the people we are elected to serve," stated Chair McDevitt-Pugh.
