Global Youth Caucus Leadership
About the Chair Position:
Democrats Abroad is seeking a Global Youth Caucus Chair and to mobilize, engage, and amplify the voices of young U.S. citizens living abroad.
The Youth Caucus chair will lead youth outreach, programming, advocacy, and voter engagement efforts; strengthen participation in U.S. elections; and help build a welcoming political home for young Democrats worldwide.
The ideal candidate has knowledge of Democrats Abroad, understands issues affecting young Americans and young voters, and brings strong communication, organizing, and leadership skills.
Upon appointment, the Chair will work with Democrats Abroad international leadership to help form and support a leadership team, including a Vice Chair and Steering Committee.
Responsibilities

Review and, where needed, update the Global Youth Caucus mission statement, goals, and terms of reference for approval by the Democrats Abroad International Executive Committee

Develop and execute a strategic outreach plan to increase youth voter registration, education, engagement, and turnout among U.S. citizens living abroad

Recruit, support, and coordinate a Global Youth Caucus leadership team and Steering Committee

Hold regular Global Youth Caucus Steering Committee planning sessions in a manner supportive of the global nature of the organization

Connect with Young Democrats of America

Organize youth-focused programming, events, trainings, and campaigns that connect young Americans abroad to Democratic values and electoral action

Collaborate with Democrats Abroad country committees, chapters, global caucuses, campaign teams, and voter protection and voter assistance efforts

Coordinate, where appropriate, with Democrats Abroad advocacy, communications, and caucus leadership on youth-focused campaigns and legislative priorities

Build and maintain a centralized list of relevant external contacts, including student groups, youth organizations, civic organizations, and partner networks

Work with the Democrats Abroad Global Communications Team to develop youth-focused messaging and maintain the caucus’s presence on Democrats Abroad Youth Caucus platforms, including the DA website, email, and social media

Report regularly to Democrats Abroad international leadership and attend relevant meetings as requested

Foster an inclusive, collaborative, and action-oriented caucus culture that welcomes young members and new volunteers
NOTE: Study Abroad Outreach is a different team within DA - the Youth Caucus is encouraged to work with them but is not the lead team in DA for reaching out to Study Abroad programs.
Skills & Qualifications
Applicants should have:

Commitment to helping Democrats Abroad, the Democratic Party, and Democratic candidates succeed

Membership in Democrats Abroad, or willingness to join before appointment

Understanding of issues affecting young Americans, students, early-career professionals, young voters, and U.S. citizens abroad

Experience in organizing, campaigns, volunteer management, communications, advocacy, or community engagement

Strong written and verbal communication skills

Creative, reliable, organized, and able to follow through on measurable goals

Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a global, remote, volunteer-led environment
-
Commitment to diversity, equity, inclusion, and accessibility in political organizing
Logistical Details
Location: Online / Remote
Estimated Time Commitment: 5–10 hours per week, with flexible working times
Language: English
Start Date: July 15
Term: Until June 2027
